Reason :: The Experience

Another busy day in office. After half a day's toil, it is time for lunch on this beautiful Friday afternoon. It had rained yesterday and hence the air exudes a pleasant scent of moist soil. The sun seems to be playing hide and seek with the dark rain-bearing clouds. I head out to have a bite.

I come near the metal beauty which is dazzling in whatever light there is in the dark somber alley of the second basement of my office. I hop on the copious amounts of foam covered in smooth seat cover that make sitting on this machine a very comfortable affair. I hold the handle, turn on the ignition, breathe life into her heart.. with a kick! My reactions are instinctive.. what instincts was I born with, I wonder.

I get off the basement parking and hit the road. Without trying, I take a turn that will lead me out of the path to my destination and to a road that is meant to be ridden on, the outer ring road. Have I succumbed to a temptation? Have I *decided* to ride away from my current destination? No, I didn't mean to stray.. I just did it!

The wild beast I am riding seems to have a mind of its own.. somehow connected my own id, together they seem to have taken over my body. I am now completely numb to all feeling but to the one of pure joy. My brain tells me that I am stationary and the world around me is moving, running backwards, the air around me is running backwards too. I somehow seem to have control over its velocity. I just have to twist the small plastic grip that I hold in my right hand to make the world run faster or slower. I largely ignore it. I am happy at the rate at which world is running away.. I put my body completely at ease and bend around a little whenever I want the world to change direction in order to let my ride not bang into something.

After a while of sitting and watching the world cruise around me, a few muscles in my body twitch, tighten, loosen and hold involuntarily, changing the world's direction by a U. Now the world seems to be running to take me back on my the track that will take me home, my destination. After a while, the ride slows down and stops. I regain full control of my body. I look up and see, I've reached home!

This is why, I guess, the ad of the bike says "Feel like God!"..
